Well, it was a bad day for the market, but a good day for the VO.
It was strange... lately, commodities, fertilizers and financials have been trading somewhat inverse to each other... it felt like a sector rotation was occurring. Today, everything just got sold. The one silver lining the bulls can take from this session is that volume was light.
So you know what? I wouldn't be surprised to see a low volume bounce back above 12,900 tomorrow.
We shall see.
Since I've been in front of the computer way too much since yesterday, I won't have a daily post up this evening. It's a nice day here and I think a good bike ride will be more beneficial to me.

As you can see from the chart below, I boosted "the Fly's" (notice, back to small "t") traffic by approximately 1356% yesterday.
Cynics may say, "Yeah, but didn't "the Fly" promote the elections for the better part of 2 weeks? Couldn't the bounce have come from such promotion?"
And to that, I'd say, you're a cynic, stop being such a dick. No one likes a cynic.
Shoot me an email if you're interested in hiring me to write shit for you. Since I can't make money trading currently, perhaps I'll just be a third-tier blogger for hire... we'll see where that gets me.

Another day of losses, which is becoming far too common. This market is stuck. There's no conviction on either side... no fear that the market is about to dip to 12,500 and no greed hoping that the market is about to rip to 13,500.
So we sit here at unlucky number 13,000 on the Dow, just biding our time and churning our accounts. The summer looms like a boring 4 hour foreign film... if we can't make money now, what will become of us in June and August?
Okay, onto an important matter. As you know, I am "live blogging" the election this evening over at "the Fly's" place. I will be posting endorsements and such, keeping things real and hopefully fun. The market had no volume today... none. We barely crested the 1.1 billion share mark. That's really hard to believe. If you're a bull, it's great news, since we were down almost 100 points on the Dow. But with volume like that, it's actually very healthy looking. It was the lowest volume day of the YEAR.
Anyway, all I did today was trade oil and gas stocks. Oil is ripping again... commodities are ripping again... frankly, I'm sick of these stocks. I have a really bad feeling the the market is going to suck, for the next 10 years.
The VO is dying of mediocrity. Later this week, I will introduce two new members. I'm pretty sure that they will be mediocre as well. It's just the way things are right now. In fact, I may close the fucking VO because it's even beginning to bore the hell out of me.
Fuck. Developing...

Obama Says "No" To Summer Gas Relief
And good for him.
When you lower the price of gasoline, you spur demand. That's not a way to reduce our dependence on this old-fashioned energy source.
A true leader would call for an increase in the gasoline tax, that would pay for research into renewable energy sources.

Today was a perfect consolidation day. All the trades that have worked the last few days (long financials, short oil, coals, ags) reversed slightly on lower volume. The indexes, though they started higher, sank all day, flatlined, and then pushed positive again in the last hour of trade.
It was a snoozer for me, but I know there was lots of money made today in prop world.
Anyway, it was pretty much a snoozer for the VO as well, except for OBAT, current mayor of "Cake City." He had his second above average day in a row.
Hopefully, next week, we get some more follow through on the trends that were started this week.
It's gonna be a rainy weekend here, so I should have some time to get some good research done. I also plan on preparing for my first paid blogging stint at "the Fly's" place next Tuesday. Make sure you visit, May 6th, 4pm to midnight.
Oh, and check out Timmay's new site. I think it's a little busy, but he has a lot of bling to fit into such a small space.

Santelli Smacks Liesman
I was feeling a little dry this morning... I was hoping for some wisdom from Art Cashin, so I switched on CNBC.
They were discussing the FEDs action this morning... I don't know what the FED did. They increased the TAF or something... I don't care anymore. I just figure they're doing all they can to make sure the stock market can never sell off again. God Bless America.
Anyway, Steve Liesman was talking, and Santelli chimed in with a comment. Liesman, looking hurt said something like, "Rick, I let you finish, now I'd like it if you let me finish."
Santelli fired back with, "Steve, I've said this before... you put your IRA up and I'll put my IRA up and we'll trade them and see who can retire!" This comment caused a manly cheer to erupt behind Santelli from the Chicago pits.
They turned the camera to Liesman. He looked hurt, as if he was about to cry.
Carl Quintanilla was shown chuckling and then they cut to commercial.
