I should have named this post "birth of a blog post" because it hits exactly on that topic...
Anyway, yesterday evening, I was scrolling around over at "the Fly's" place and found a link to this article in the comment section. It scared the bejesus out of me. So, I decided I better get a little educated about its origin since I figured it was from some marginal source.
It is, kind of... What I found is that the website Infowars is the brainchild of Alex Jones, a "paleo conservative" who hosts a controversial radio program that veers towards conspiracy theories, etc. But what I found more interesting was that he was featured in the movie "Waking Life" which was directed by Richard Linklater, one of my favorite film directors. Below you'll find the clip that features Alex Jones.
Anyway, it got me thinking about one of my all-time favorite movies, "Slacker," also directed by Linklater. This is the type of movie that when I was 18 I'd try and get my friends to watch. I was always so enthusiastic about it but everyone else just seemed bored.
So I found a dude who linked the movie in its entirety on youtube, and I've gone through the trouble of making 10 links to each segment of the movie here. Bonus points if you see the "Ron Paul" reference...
Consider it an early Christmas gift from DT. Here goes!
It was a wild scene here at Dinosaur Trader blog last night. I'll have you know, I'm a control freak and don't like other people messing with my blog.
But it's over now. The iBCers are gone and peace has been restored. I never thought they'd leave. Check below for how they were dispelled from my illustrious third tier haven.
I have an unnatural obsession with the scene described below... I finally found a low quality version of it posted on Youtube, so I made it into a paraphrasology post that you all can enjoy!
Man driving car over a bridge while eating burrito. His dog, "Baxter" is in the passenger seat.
"This burrito is delicious but it is filling!"
He throws the burrito out the window, slamming a motorcycle guy who is driving alongside his car, in the face. The motorcycle guy wipes out.
"Anthony and Cleopatra!"
The motorcycle guy recovers from his fall and approaches the car. Below is the ensuing conversation.
Motorcycle Guy: "What the hell, bro?"
Ron Burgandy: "Hello neighbor..."
MG: "Did you just... throw a burrito out your window?"
RB: "I believe I did..."
MG: "What are you high or something??? Did you see what happened?"
RB: "I did see! That was a terrific little spill... that's quite a raspberry."
MG: "That's my chopper you just thrashed, broseph!"
RB: "Easy compadre... I'm your friend out here, all right?"
MG: "I want you to fix my chopper before I stomp your goofy ass!"
RB: "If you want to throw down fisticuffs, fine. I've got Jack Johnson and Tom O'Leary waiting for you... right here!"
MG: "You destroyed the only thing I love. All right? There it is... what do you love?"
RB: "Mmmm.... I love poetry, Dinosaur Trader's blog, a glass of scotch... And of course, my friend Baxter here.
MG: "Well guess what? Now this is happening!"
The motorcycle guy picks up "Baxter" the dog, and walks him over to the edge of the bridge.
RB: "Excuse me... excuse me... what are you doing?"
He punts the dog off the bridge, and into the water.
I know what you're thinking... dude goes away for a month, comes back, says he's not going to post as much, and then posts a 10 minute scene from Moonstruck. What the fuck? Yeah, I don't know...
For a poll that was only open 6 hours or so, late at night, the vote total was impressive.
48 of you voted and 27, or 56% voted to keep the old look.
Therefore, I will respect it. The main issue with the blog is fixed... it wasn't loading correctly.
I have saved the blog. Indeed, it was quite an ordeal. Here is exclusive footage of me saving the blog last night (and no, smartass, I'm not the woman).
Meanwhile, I will continue to tweak the way this blog looks... because I'm kind of sick of it. And look at all that wasted space on the left!
I checked Youtube but couldn't find any of the classic clips from that flick. However, in searching, I found this great clip from the movie "High Fidelity."
Now unless you've seen the movie, it won't be that funny. However, understand that the guy who drops the air conditioner on Tim Robbins is a really meek and quiet guy in the movie who is constantly bullied by Jack Black's character. When he smacks the dude with the phone and finishes him off with the air conditioner... well, that's just good comedy.
Meanwhile, if you haven't seen the movie, don't. Instead, read the book. It's for people who love music, especially my kind of music... that is, good music.
We watched Running With Scissors last night and... completely hated it. Annette Bening was really good and the music was decent though. And this one scene was funny and pretty random.
It would be financially irresponsible and perhaps unhealthy for you to trade like I do. This blog is for entertainment purposes only. I am a trader not an investor. I don't make recommendations. Thanks, have fun here.
