Wow, just check out JASO, TSL and FSLR. Gigantic moves.
So if I traded these stocks today, why didn't I make huge money?
Small size first of all. I took a couple of points out of TSL, but only with a 200 share position. Likewise with JASO. So while I made money in these stocks it was only for a fraction of their whole moves and only with small share size.
And, every other stock I traded that wasn't in the solar sector I lost in.
At the end of the day I was very surprised I lost money. I felt I had a couple of good winners and that I managed most of my losers. One exception was DE a stock I lost money in 3 separate times trying to short. But overall I managed my losing trades well. The reason I know this is because I had 10 losers today and only 4 winners yet I barely lost money. So I kept most of my losers very small.
DE wasn't a disaster, I lost a total of $274 in the stock. Also, I realized my mistake (shorting strength) immediately, took my loss and moved on.
I'm cutting this post short because it's late (and I'm writing lazy) and I'm waking extremely early to get to the beach for surf. I lost money today but overall, I'm happy and my confidence is growing.
Just like a market in rally mode you want to see big gains in high volume and losses in low volume. I consider a $40 loss a low volume pullback. I'll take losses like that any day of the week.
Here's the stats:
P&L, -$40
Best, TSL $312
Worst, DE -$274
shares traded, 11,200
stocks traded, 14, 4 positive, 10 negative
total trades, 89

HPT, $707 on 102 contracts traded.
Denarii, flat on 5400 shares traded.
Me, -$40 on 11,200 shares traded.
Evolution, -$226 on 30,400 shares traded.
OBAT, -$265 on 8200 shares traded.
Misstrade, -$522 on 5600 shares traded.
The numbers came in early, so here's a stripped down VO.
We all LOST! :(
UPDATE: Just got home and with the numbers from HPT we at least had one green VOer. Still, a pretty bad day overall. No disasters though.
Earnings season just around the bend. I imagine things will begin to heat up in the VO.

My daughter has a (well visit) doctor's appointment right after the close.
After that, dinner on the beach so the post won't be until much later this evening.
Apologies. However, I will leave you with a gem of a music video. It will keep your head spinning until I have time to make the posts.

Sorry, but once the "great pumpkin" was shaved and they started wearing tin foil and whining about being "rats in a cage" their music has completely sucked.
Thank you to the good writers over at Pitchfork for being a little more eloquent about it.
Oh, and let's not forget this...

Yet another way big business is trying to kill the internet as we now know it.
Check this link for the details. If you like to listen to streaming music or streaming radio on the internet, check it out.
In fact, and I'm not trying to be alarmist here... but a friend of a friend of a friend of mine told his cousin that if you don't click on that link you'll simply be rendered deaf, for karmic reasons.
