FLASH: Erin Burnett An Idiot Too

Okay, so it looks like Erin is going to win in a landslide. I'm cool with that... but then, she's up against Maria.

I just found this video of her and frankly, I had a hard time believing what I was hearing... basically, she says that "China is our best friend" right now because they manufacture toys with lead paint, thereby keeping prices low at Walmart.

I kid you not. Watch the clip here.

Pure and utter stupidity.

UPDATE: Erin demolishes Maria, despite her incredibly stupid comments regarding lead paint and poisonous food.

The final tally, 42 votes: Erin 37 or 88%, Maria 5 or 11%.

The Perseid Meteor Shower Peaks Tonight

So perhaps you've been thinking about the stock market a lot this weekend. Or maybe you just bought a home or are trying to and you're a little freaked out because the media is making it seem like the economy is about to split apart at the seams. At times like these a little perspective is in order.

First of all, as I stated in a comment somewhere, even if the Dow drops 1000 points tomorrow, it's still about the lowest lows of February... that's even if it drops 1000 points... tomorrow. In other words, no big deal looking at the bigger picture.

If you need some more help looking at the really big picture, stumble outside in your pajamas tonight. Turn off all the lights outside and inside your house and look east. You should see a great show of meteors streaking across the sky... at the peak of the shower, at 2am Monday morning, you could see up to 100 an hour.

But maybe you missed this post... I should have warned you Friday, I know. So, just in case you missed it, here's a great song about looking up at the sky and gaining some perspective from the enormity of it all. Happy Monday.

Looking Forward To This Week

Normally, I'm not chomping at the bit to get back to work... I'm a pretty lazy guy when it gets right down to it. I like to spend time with my hobbies and my family, not working.

However, I can't wait to see how things unfold this coming week. There is so much drama to the market right now. It's a great story to watch unfold and to be actively involved (trading) in the story makes it even more gripping.

I woke up at 4:30am Saturday morning all amped because I thought it was a work day. No kidding. I can't recall the last time that happened.

The downside of all this market volatility and intrigue is that I may have to put off our planned vacation by a few days. I just can't step away from the market right now.

Anyway, here is February's decline as reported on CNBC. By the way, the uptick rule was taken off the books in July. So we were getting weird swings well before this recent volatility. Hmmmm... the Hybrid Market went live in December though... coincidence?

Oh, and just for perspective, even if we drop 1000 points on the Dow tomorrow, we'd still be above the lows of February.
