Black Gold Indeed...

Yesterday I was at the pump and there was some guy with a buzz cut and calf muscles the size of my head filling up his Ford Excursion. He was just staring at the pump, shaking his head and saying to no one in particular, "this is fucking ridiculous!"

After he filled up, he walked towards the little shop where they sell other savory items like cigarettes and looked as if he was going to punch the window. He took a step back, fuming, and luckily, considered his options. He jumped back into his Excursion and probably paid $0.50 just to get to the traffic light at the end of the block.

In short, expect "gas station rage" to come to a busy intersection near you!

Of course, I couldn't be happier... now if it can go high enough to get my idiot neighbor to stop chasing 10 leaves around his yard with his gas powered leaf blower, we'll be getting somewhere.

Well, at least we got some volatility today. What are the chances we get another Amaranth hedge fund blow up this summer?

Yeah, market was nuts. Most in my office made money, but not everyone. It's not exactly like last August, because the volume is relatively lame. Last August when we were volatile, we were at least up over 2 billion shares a day. Now, we can't even get to 1.5 billion... still, there were ridiculous moves today.

DT,
Loved the leaf-blower comment. Cracked me up. I can't stand that incessant whirring noise that seems to go on forever! I also find myself laughing when I see all of these SUV's racing around, knowing they're all paying $150 to fill up a tank. It's like the housing market; people were rushing to buy 2nd homes, 0-down APR mortgages, HELOC's, Hummers, and Excursions just before everything came tumbling down. Sorry, I have a bad case of schadenfreude.

I hate the leaf blowers too. Recently in a great Sunday afternoon, I took my baby out to play in the park. The idiot was blowing in his yard the entire time we were there. It's beyond me. Why can't you just leave the leaves alone?

I hate those fargin' leaf blowers too. I also enjoy watching the gas station grimace.

BD,

Thanks, improving. I'll get a post up later today. We got home late last night from a weekend away and I haven't had time to come up with a full-fledged post.
