Same Shit, 34 Years Later...

I saw my mother last night. Her father was a printer for the New York Times back in the 40s thru the 70s. I was born in 1974, and for my birth, I received a miniaturized cover of the NYT from that day. Since she's cleaning out her attic, she gave me the copy.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting. Here's the big headline. How depressing.

ARAB DECISION TO END EMBARGO
ON OIL SALES TO U.S. IS REPORTED;
LEVEL OF OUTPUT UNDER STUDY
Quick Results On Gasoline Are Expected

Can't we move on already? What a tragedy that we're still discussing the same shit, 34 years later. We owe it to our children (and grandchildren) to not make this an issue for the next generation.

Wait a sec, you're a "dinosaur" even though you're only 34 years old? Man, I thought you were in your 50s or something!

And I'm not sure if you're making a joke or not about the oil - you know the 70s was when the last huge oil crisis happened, right? It was also when US oil production peaked. There were huge line-ups at the pumps. As bad as this seems right now, back then it was worse in many ways. Gives you hope, huh?

I agree, I often sound wise beyond my years... as for my political posture, it's mostly been influenced by George W. Bush.

Has anyone found a cheaper alternative other than oil to drive economy in the last 50 years? Will anyone really find any in the next 10 years? I seriously doubt the cost effectiveness of the new "invention" Well, we are stuck here for some time just as we were in 70's.
