An Extraordinary Place, Dubai...
I found this incredible post about the growth of Dubai. I mean, the pictures were so amazing and the buildings so tall, that halfway through I started to think it was a big sarcastic joke... but it's not.

Leaving for Dubai tomorrow morning can't wait to go skiing in the desert.
No kidding? I'd love to see some pics.

The building heights make little sense given how much empty desert is all around - but maybe that's the whole point. No taxes as the government is funded directly from oil revenue.
DT I used to go every other month for my previous job and the growth is just amazing. I haven't been back for a couple of years but can't wait to go see some of the new developments. I'll take some pics for you.
There Will Be Dubai Blood
-maybe the final scene is Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will beat someone to death w/ a pair of ski's in the indoor ski-slope vs. the bowling alley.
Manufactured demand, all funded by oil - this will end badly.
Bubs, that would be great. If you still don't have your blog up and want to publish them here, lemme know.
Damn Pete, you're even darker than I am...

I've seen the ads for Dubai in Forbes. Looks like its all funded by oil money. People will suffer thru the pain of higher gas prices so we can FLY to the Dubai resort and stay in an underwater hotel. Besides amusement and leisure, what will the Dubai city produce. The majority of Americans have no money to fly there and stay in an island hotel and visit DubaiLand. I think I'd rather just ride my bike and go down to the river instead and save my money.
HPT,
I like the idea of just riding your bike down to the river... especially, if down by the river there's a homeless guy, who used to be a truck driver... and he's pissed because higher gas prices squeezed his margins and made him lose his home.
He asks you what you do, you tell him you're a trader and he beats the shit out of you and steals your bike.

Dubai growth is insane. I wonder if they have the population to support such development.

Actually, I got it right here... you are correct.
However, sans political message at the bottom.
