Virtual Office, -$1277. SPX, -2.20, 1370.00

Evolution, $232 on 71,200 shares traded.
OBAT, $177 on 5000 shares traded.
Ainkurn, $6 on 200 shares traded.
Retardo, no trades.
Timmay, no trades.
Denarii, -$135 on 2600 shares traded.
Dehtrader, -$322 on 6570 shares traded.
Me, -$1235 on 18,800 shares traded.

The market sucked today but I sucked even more.

On a day where there were no large sector moves (minus those sexy coal stocks) and absolutely no volume in the market, it was all about waiting for the FOMC minutes.

"The FOMC minutes will save me... The FOMC minutes will save me..."

That's what I kept repeating to myself, like some fucked up stock trader mantra.

Naturally, whenever you "hope" for anything in the market, you get your balls crushed, like some masochistic pervert in a NYC sex club.

Anyway, enough about me...

The VO had kind of a crappy day and I offer congratulations to those who finished green. At the same time, I really hate those people right now, just for making my crappy day seem even shittier. If only OBAT had thrown down a 2g loss or something, my evening could have been saved.

A Bad Day

I'm having a shitty day... a real shitty day. Most of my losses are in the two stocks below.

Since I don't plan on risking much more today, my $1200 loss will probably just have to stick, like shit, to my trading account. $900 of that loss is detailed below.

Very hard day to take since I've been on a real roll. I need to get better at listening to myself when the trading day appears to be crap. I had a string of losses right off the bat, nothing was working, and I should have lightened my size and taken fewer trades.

Hope your day is going better, bitchface.

NOTE: Meanwhile, on days like these, it's good to regain perspective. Here's a good list of "psychology rules" to live by when trading.

It also helps to laugh... go check out the Wall Street Fighter picture and caption today. Classic.

Animal Collective, "Who Could Win A Rabbit"

Some Old, Some New

Man, I think I just did something pretty damn dumb... we live in a place that is literally crawling with deer and full of trees. In an attempt to make a "leaf enclosure" where I could just rake my leaves so they don't blow around, I may have just made the world's best deer trap. I put it right in the path they walk in each night, unknowingly, until right at dusk when it was too late to take the damn thing down. The worst part is that I only finished 3 of 4 sides, so they can walk in and then get really confused...

I wouldn't be surprised if I wake at 5 in the morning to a deer tangled in a mass of meshy fence.

Nightmare developing...

Anyway, let me quickly describe my trades today. First of all, today is a good example of how I envision my days to be going forward. I had a decent mix of "crazy ole DT" trades and the new, rules based, sniper like, "HCPG DT."

First, the "crazy ole DT trade."

Shorting BG... I know, I know...

Aha, but this time it worked!

I just can't pass this shit up, so I'm not going to... I'm just going to learn how to trade these moves better. I know I can if I size into the position correctly.

But the whole day can't be that kind of crazy shit. That's why I like the High Chart Patterns stuff. It gives you trades to look at that have entries and exits, two things I used to scoff at when I was a younger, stupider man (5 weeks ago).

Here's one I took today. Now, I screwed up the trade and didn't trade at all how they suggest you to make these trades, but I'm working at this shit still.

Anyway, I missed huge sector moves in the ag names and coal stocks. But the good news is that despite not having any huge winners, I had 6 winners over $100 each and only 1 loser over $100. It's much easier to make any money in the market if you can control losers, that's for sure.

Here's the stats:

P&L, $520
Best, BG, $199
Worst, EOG, -$143

10,600 shares traded.
11 stocks traded, 6 winners, 5 losers.

Virtual Office, $1959. SPX, +3.40, 10,600 shares traded.

Evolution, $1300 on 53,200 shares traded.
Me, $524 on 10,600 shares traded.
Ainkurn, $400 on 1250 shares traded.
Timmay, $370 on 6000 shares traded.
Denarii, $90 on 2000 shares traded.
Retardo, no trades.
OBAT, -$9 on 7800 shares traded.
Sanglucci, -$140 on 30,200 shares traded.
Dehtrader, -$576 on 7150 shares traded.

It was an odd day... I mean, if you look at the coals and ag sector (again) it seems as if you could have made thousands... indeed, some traders in my office did. One dude caught the coal short just right.

In fact, funny story, he was at the beach the whole time and the office manager accidentally covered his shorts, AT THE LOWS yielding him profits of over $10,000... thus the saying, "sometimes it's better to be lucky than good."

Anyway, the volume was also very light, just above Friday's shitty total, so there was also a fair amount of chop. The VO totals show that while there were opportunities out there today, they were tough to catch, no bonanza.

I have to split right now, but I'll write a daily post for this evening.

Seriously though, just once, can't Dylan Ratigan trip into the camera as he stalks it on the floor of the exchange? Talk about a viral video waiting to happen...

"The Fly" Takes On A Trucker

I check "the Fly's" blog now and then... like, when I have nothing better to do, once every 3 or 4 weeks.

Anyway, today I see he wrote a post about getting chased by a mean trucker on an Interstate... of course, I have exclusive footage of this event.

Wincity Leaves VO

You may wonder, with all the social benefits one gets by being a member of the VO, why anyone would ever leave?

I don't know. However, Wincity decided to leave after this video of fellow VO members doing the ole "wooden spoon" prank surfaced.

Wooden Spoon Prank - Watch more free videos

It's a shame, because Wincity was a great VO participant. We also lose his blog, which he has taken down... also a shame, because the articles were well written and thought through.

I wish him luck and thank him for introducing the term "toad" to describe a stock.

Sunset Rubdown, "Us Ones In Between"

Depressing as hell, but it's raining here... have a good weekend.

Virtual Office, $2410. SPX, -1.90, 1371.50.

Evolution, $1646 on 54,000 shares traded.
Dehtrader, $1147 on 2642 shares traded.
Me, $652 on 20,600 shares traded.
Retardo, no trades.
Wincity, -$86 on 700 shares traded.
OBAT, -$257 on 10,800 shares traded.
Ainkurn, -$278 on 2400 shares traded.
Sanglucci, -$414 on 7400 shares traded.

Just another day in the market... volume was pathetic, but the ag names and coal stocks jolted around like innocent students getting tasered by the campus police.

Indeed, these are strange times.

I didn't listen to CNBC all day but did have the pleasure to hear Rick Santelli smack down Steve Liesman. Liesman was saying that the credit spreads should have never widened as much as they did and Santelli was like, (I'm paraphrasing here) "Steve, you're a big dick. For 6 years companies acted like crackheads, so spreads should have widened... wake the fuck up!"

It was great.

Anyway, it was a mixed day for the VO. We traded only 1.25 billion today on the NYSE, so that never helps. Still, Evolution managed to make more cake.

No word from Timmay. I'm sure he's out there hamming it up for some camera somewhere, unconcerned that I'm slowly damaging his sparkling reputation via the VO.

Friday afternoon bonus! Exclusive footage of Ainkurn playing in the woods with some friends!

"Son of a Bitch!"

I know what you're thinking... dude goes away for a month, comes back, says he's not going to post as much, and then posts a 10 minute scene from Moonstruck. What the fuck? Yeah, I don't know...

Honey Cone, "One Monkey Don't Stop No Show"

Bunge Jumping...

Man, what a fucked up day.

Things were going fine for me early, as I caught a great long in MON and POT. My office was getting smoked. I was showing impressive relative strength.

Then, BG exposed my weakness... a "weak" stock showing undue strength in a crappy market.

I had to short it.

I got sucked into this trade like no other since well... the last time I did the same exact fucking thing, in late February. Same stock, everything. Welcome to the life of an idiot.

Anyway, I nearly lost my entire month on this bullshit, selling into a spike... what's worse, Sanglucci kept telling me I was trading like "a herb" rubbing it in with his "cool kid" slang terms.

You know what? I'm 95% sure I'm going to make this same mistake some other time, so I won't even claim to have "learned anything" from the trade. What I did learn, is that I trade okay 90% of the time... then 10% I trade like a crack addict.

Luckily, I was able to make a little money off of the bonanza in V during the afternoon.

Anyway, here's the stats:

P&L, $95
Best, MON, $443
Worst, BG, -$773

21,800 shares traded.
16 stocks traded, 10 winners, 6 losers.

Virtual Office, -$48. SPX, +2.50, 1373.40.

OBAT, $494 on 9400 shares traded.
Me, $95 on 21,800 shares traded.
Ainkurn, $4 on 1050 shares traded.
Wincity, no trades.
Retardo, no trades.
Timmay, no trades.
Dehtrader, -$202 on 6614 shares traded.
Denarii, -$215 on 4800 shares traded.
Sanglucci, -$224 on 47,800 shares traded.

You might look at the indexes today and think nothing happened. I mean, we were barely up on the day, with not too crazy of a range and the volume sucked. But it was a fucking warzone out there today...

Some guys in my main office got completely smoked... no cake was made anywhere. But it's really odd, because the agriculture stocks were acting like crackheads, and the coal stocks were wiling out. Meanwhile, did you see the action in V today? I have it on good inside information that the buying there was coming out of the deep south.

The VO had a pretty crappy day. OBAT made money, but when doesn't he? Dude just chills on a pacific island toying with the stock market all day long, buying beaches and shit. Meanwhile, Evolution had a good day I think, but he forgot to report his numbers... he thinks he's Timmay or something.

Anyway, I need to go have a drink. I'll have a daily post up this evening... I have some shit to vent.

When Imbalance Orders Go Bad

Here's the trade I lost $400 on at the end of the day yesterday...

Wednesday, April 2, 2008

Virtual Office, $3003. SPX, +.30, 1370.90.

Evolution, $1572 on 58,600 shares traded.
Sanglucci, $827 on 28,400 shares traded.
OBAT, $450 on 12,200 shares traded.
Dehtrader, $254 on 3190 shares traded.
Ainkurn, $88 on 1350 shares traded.
Wincity, $30 on 100 shares traded.
Denarii, no trades.
Retardo, no trades.
Me, -$218 on 12,600 shares traded.

I gotta say that for most of the day, my office was getting smoked but there was a lot of "juice" in the market today, and "cake" to be made.

Take a look at the Agriculture stocks... the range on these things has been sick.

Still, it was a challenging day. A lot of breakouts didn't follow through easily, and there was plenty of churn. The volume on the NYSE was average, at just over 1.4 billion shares.

Evolution continued to tear it up however, with his "focus on one sector and dominate it" type of style. Sanglucci also did well, trading the Ag stocks like a fucking farmer. Speaking of farmers, Ainkurn came out with a "get 'er done!" in the chatroom today, which frankly, scared the shit out of us Northeastern elite types...

I was the lone red guy today... let me tell you it sucks to be the only red guy in the VO. That's what I get for fucking around with imbalances... HI had a published buy imbalance at 3:40 and then switched it negative at 3:50... I lost over $400 on the trade and it brought me negative.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sykes didn't get his numbers in on time again. He may be the "blingmaster" with his advertising laced website, but perhaps all the advertising and the gay "hotspot" and "tim links" are slowing down his email server... that's right.

This Guy Should Never Trade

He'd be dead already.
