Immersion

In keeping with my attempts at being more "professional" and more "focused" in my work, I've also been trying to read topical stuff when I'm not working; books about finance and financial stuff.

Right now I'm reading "When Genius Failed" about the rise and fall of LTCM and after that I have "The Black Swan" ready to go. I'm simply trying to "immerse" myself in financial stuff, but in a positive way.

I'm looking for finance books that are fun to read. If you have any suggestions, please leave your favorite in the comment section below.

Thanks,

-DT

  7. Bubs,

That's cool. I'm not just looking for books about trading, but about economics or business in general. As long as they're fun to read and will keep my head in the game.

  10. Nice!

This should keep me busy until the summer. And by then, I'll be hosting online economic courses!

Thanks, suggestions here mean more than those stars at Amazon. I think they're mostly gamed anyway...

  11. Hey DT.....definitely "on topic", but not in an academic or instructional way.......go for the book (or audio book version from audible...that's what I did)...."Rigged". Some great profiles of NYMEX traders and insight into the NYMEX administration.

Also, "The Wolf of Wall Street" is a great weekend read.

    CHEERS!

  13. I'll be honest up front; I've never made a trade in my life. If I'm going to do something that requires a lot of time and money, I plan to do it right. Still not sure when I'll be ready.

Anyways, a few books I've read:
Liar's Poker (M. Lewis; always fun)
Reminiscences of a Stock Operator (E. Lefevre; a classic)
How to Trade in Stocks (J. Livermore)
Jesse Livermore: World's Greatest Stock Trader (R. Smitten)
An American Hedge Fund (T. Sykes)
The Wolf of Wall Street (Jordan Belfort; not a favorite; Scorcese considered doing a movie based on this)

I like Jesse Livermore's take on the market, but that's coming from an outsider.

    Still plan to read:
    Den of Thieves

    Currently reading:
Confessions of a Street Addict (J. Cramer; not too crazy about it)
Fiasco (just started this; my school doesn't have much in the way have "trading" books for me to check out)
